Bruce Kent Pyatt | January 13, 1937 - October 14, 2009

Bruce Edwin Kent Pyatt was born in Scarborough, Ontario, January 13th, 1937. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Ella Pyatt, and his daughter Brenda Penno.  Bruce was raised in Scarborough and in 1965 he met and married Cathryn Wallis and they raised two daughters on Cathy's family farm near Bayfield, Ontario. The family moved west in 1973 to Calgary for one year and then finally settling in the Blaeberry near Golden BC. Bruce will be sadly missed by his loving wife Cathy, his daughter, Barbara McGrath (Marty) and their daughters Jenness and Tiffanie, Brenda's husband Kurt and sons Jeff (Rhonda), Jerrett, and Jordan. Bruce loved spending time with grandchildren especially at the cabin on the Kinbasket Lake where they enjoyed boating, fishing, swimming and playing with the dogs. Bruce could often be seen polishing, cleaning and painting his boats in anticipation for the summer launch. Another hobby shared by Bruce and Cathy was to collect wood burls and make them into clocks. Bruce passed away suddenly at home of an aortic aneurysm on October 14th, 2009 at the age of 72. Bruce's ashes will be placed next to his daughter Brenda at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society

Harold Earl "Hub" Henderson | July 22, 1935 - October 11, 2009

 Mr. Harold Earl "Hub" Henderson died suddenly in Golden, B.C. on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the age of 74 years. A Memorial Service was held at the Golden Civic Center on Friday afternoon, October 16th with Pastor Joe Rioux officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will follow at a later date in the family plot of the Golden Community Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Hub"s children and grandchildren: Darcy, Murray, Roan, Von, Ava and Anica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 612, Golden, B.C. V0A 1H0, in memory of Hub.Hub was born in Golden, B.C. on July 22, 1935 and had been a life-long resident of the community. He enjoyed all sports and was well known for the volunteer time he spent coaching kids in Little League, Minor Hockey and Junior Curling. Hub loved music and enjoyed his time spent in conversation with his family and friends. Family was very important to Hub and his grandchildren were the light of his life.Hub was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law, his brother Bruce and daughter Tammy. He is survived by his wife Baeda of Golden; two sons: Darcy of Edmonton and Murray (Cecile) of Calgary; four grandchildren: Roan, Von, Ava and Anica; siblings: Bill (Pearl) Henderson of Golden, Kay (Jock) Soles of Golden, Chick (Kaye) Henderson of Cranbrook, Louise Jackson of Golden and Maxine (Russ) Romano of Creston; sisters-in-law Jean Henderson of Salmon Arm and Margaret (Gordon) Murray of Edmonton; brother-in-law Walter (Carmen) Jacobson of Donald as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Arrangements were in the care of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.

Floyd Arthur Rande | February 28, 1961 - August 21, 2009

Floyd Arthur Rande died suddenly as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Golden, B.C. on Friday, August 21st, 2009 at the age of 48 years. A Celebration of Life Service was held at the Golden Civic Centre on Saturday, August 29th with family and friends presiding. Interment of the cremated remains followed in the family plot of the Golden Community Cemetery. Floyd was born in Golden, B.C. on February 28, 1961 and was a long-time resident until his move to Calgary 11 years ago. Floyd's number one sport was golfing, he really enjoyed being out on the golf course. He played hockey for many years and was involved with the Golden Rec League. Floyd enjoyed being in the outdoors and could often be found hunting or fishing. He also enjoyed boating in the summer months and skiing in winter. Floyd led a very social life and lived his life to the fullest. He loved his family very much and enjoyed the time spent with each family member. Floyd touched the lives of many and was loved by all who knew him.Floyd was predeceased by his father Chris in 2002. He is survived by one daughter, Jacylin (Chance) L'Heureux of Golden; two grandchildren: Ethan and Grace; his mother Shirley (Bill) Sova of Golden; six siblings: Eugene (Louise) Rande of Golden, Wayne (Heather) Rande of Golden, Sharon (Dale) Leslie of Golden, Carol (Don) Roy of Golden, Lorn (Kim) Rande of Golden and Bruce (Brenda) Rande of Calgary as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and by a host of good friends.Arrangements were in the care of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.

Betty Lou Dreyer | November 04, 1924 - July 08, 2009

Betty was born on Nov. 4, 1924 in Goodrich Idaho, the first of 4 children to Lester and Ethel Thomason. In 1941 she met & married Merlin Dreyer in New Meadows, Idaho. They had three children, Bill, Merlina & Bob. In 1955 the family immigrated to Canada settling in Donald, BC. The family moved again in 1963 to a ranch on the west side of the Columbia River near Brisco, BC. Betty loved the rural life style. When not busy with the ranch work she was active in the community. She was awarded a life time membership to the Brisco United Church Ladies Aid. Betty always looked forward to the quilting held by the ladies group. She also enjoyed crocheting & gardening. Another interest of Betty's was the Rebekah Lodge, she joined in Idaho in 1947 and joined the Canadian group in 1957. She remained an active member until moving to Brisco in 1963. You could often find Betty relaxing at the end of the day with a good book to read. Betty, in her younger years liked to travel and has been as far north as Alaska. She also enjoyed camping and picking wild berries.In 1976 her husband Merlin passed away but she still continued to manage the ranch with help from a friend and neighbor, Mike Gabry. In 1979 she decided to sell the ranch and she bought a small acreage just south of Brisco. Her and Mike made Brisco their home until 2006 but when the property became too much to look after they moved to an apartment in Golden, BC.Betty passed away suddenly on July 8, 2009 in Golden, BC.Betty was predeceased by her husband Merlin Dreyer (1976), great grand daughter Anna Marie Dreyer (2000), daughter Merlina Snell (2004), brother Howard Thomason (2008) and her long time companion Mike Gabry (2009).She will be greatly missed by her sons Bill (Annie) Dreyer of Golden, BC, Bob (Carol) Dreyer of Sicamous, BC, her 6 grand children and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 2 brothers Tom (Lucille) Thomason of Baker City, Oregon and Jim (Lenore) Thomason of John Day, Oregon.The celebration of life service will be held on Sunday July 26, 2009 with a grave side service at the Galena Church Cemetery at 11am, followed by a luncheon at the Brisco Hall.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Maria Marcolina De Sousa | August 29, 1931 - June 25, 2009

Maria Marcolina De Sousa tragically lost her battle to cancer in her home on June 25, 2009 at the age of 77.Querida mai, avo, visa avo.Maria was born in Pico de Pedra, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal on August 29, 1931. She immigrated from Portugal to Canada in 1965, where she joined her husband Jose De Sousa who had previously immigrated in 1963. Together they made Golden their home where they worked, raised their family and lived their lives till their passing away. Maria made her home in Golden for over forty-four years. Maria had a deep devotion to her family and friends. She will always be remembered for being kind, loving, caring, passionate and sincere. Maria was a selfless person always thinking of others before herself. She was beautiful inside and out. She had a great devotion to God and our Lady of Fatima and believed that they were instrumental in helping her overcome the many challenges in her life. Maria will remain the heart and soul of this family. She taught us the true meaning of what a family truly is through her unconditional love and caring ways. She molded our beautiful family which she leaves behind: three children, Francisco Silva, Filomena Alves, and Maria (Erle) Jones of Golden BC. Eight grandchildren; Kim Alves, Derrick Jones, Jarred Jones and Brittany Jones Golden, and Tina Silva of Saskatchewan; and Chris Alves, Raquel Silva, and Danielle Silva of Calgary. Seven great-grandchildren; D.J., Dylan, Telia and Tiara Bearchief of Saskatchewan. and Ryley, Jade and Keagan Crow of Calgary, and numerous nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her husband Jose De Sousa who passed away on October 5, 1999. We are proud to be a testimonial to the kind of person she was and the life she led. Although pieces of our hearts are broken as she left us, she will continue to live on through our love that we carry in our hearts. Funeral Services were held at the Sacred Heart Church on July 4th 2009 with Father John Kellogg officiating. Brian E Johnson | December 08, 1954 - June 17, 2009

Brian: father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many passed away suddenly in Invermere, B.C. He was in the company of friends, mountain biking in the mountains he loved. Originally from Calgary, Brian has lived and worked in Invermere for 7 years. He moved to the valley for the lifestyle and was generous in sharing his love of the outdoors with all who knew and visited him; skiing in the winter, biking and hiking in the summer. Brian is survived by his daughter Caitlin and partner Francois; mother Betty; siblings Kathleen and Peter, Beverly and Richard, Bruce and Christina; and all of his nieces, nephews and friends. We miss you now and forever Brian. A Funeral Service took place on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Pynelogs Cultural Centre in Invermere, B.C.
